Marco Flores

Transplant Type:   Heart

What if you were living on borrowed time?

Marco Flores is fighting for his life. He had his first stroke in 2011.  A year later, Marco experienced four more strokes. Doctors found that he was suffering from atrial fibrillation, dilated cardiomyopathy, and congestive heart failure.  In 2017, Marco had a stroke while driving to work.  It was a miracle that he survived the accident, but that was a wake-up call.   He was forced to stop working due the injuries he sustained in the accident as well as his declining health. His condition has continued to worsen.  In the past ten years, Marco has suffered twelve strokes, and now, doctors say a heart transplant is critical to his survival.

During such a challenging time, Marco is thankful for his wife, Tracy, their five children, two grandchildren, family, and friends who have been by his side every step of the way. He wishes they did not have to be so concerned about his health but is grateful for their love and support. Before his health began to decline, Marco enjoyed going on camping trips, visiting six flags, taking his children to carnivals, and being active with his friends and family, but these days, his activities are quite limited. Marco looks forward to the transplant that will allow him to be healthy enough to spend many more years making memories with his loved ones, but right now, he needs your help.

Unfortunately, Marco’s hope for a new life comes at a very high price.

The average heart transplant costs more than $1 million. And that is only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of his transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Marco.

If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125.  Please be sure to write "in honor of Marco Flores” in the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
