Each cat requires $173* in care while waiting for a new home through Simply Cats. We provide this above-and-beyond care for over one thousand cats each year — and we want to help more! You can save one more cat with a gift of $173 today, or help us reach our goal of giving 50 more cats a second chance with a contribution of any size during Giving Tuesday.

Second chances are happy!

Angel was trying to survive all alone as a young, pregnant stray. She was rescued near Mountain Home — just in time! She gave birth to seven kittens with the safety & comfort of human care. Angel’s second chance came when she was transferred to Simply Cats! It took just a few days for her quiet-but-loving attitude to win over the hearts of a wonderful family.

Second chances take time!

Ginger found herself surrendered to Simply Cats after living with the same owners her entire life. Despite our happy, cageless environment, Ginger didn’t react well to losing everything she had known. Adopters couldn’t safely meet her and no other cats could share her room. She took up space that could have been used to save more cats, so we wanted her out as quickly as possible. It would have been easy to find her an outdoor home, but we knew she wasn’t feral. So instead of giving up on her, we started the slow process of helping her become adoptable. Special attention and focused training made a difference! It took over five months, but Ginger found her second chance as a gentle, loving lap cat. She had even learned some new behaviors like high-fiving on command!

Second chances aren't easy!

D’artagnan was found matted and wandering in Boise. A shave took care of the mats, but more problems were quickly discovered. Diabetes and other serious medical issues combined to make this a unique case. Simply Cats spent weeks searching for a solution, but we were worried there was no way to end his suffering. Finally, we discovered that a low-carb, canned-food diet helped! Unfortunately, that whole time was spent living in a temporary cage, and he would need to stay in there for his own good until he was adopted. Thankfully, his second chance came shortly after he was declared healthy enough to be adopted! The perfect family was ready to provide the extra care he'll need for the rest of his life.

Second chances are inspiring!

In just the last few months, Simply Cats has taken in kittens that were injured, blind, deformed, and underdeveloped. But nothing holds them back! Their special needs don’t limit their happiness or hinder their ability to love. Some have already found their forever homes, and the rest will get their second chance when they age out of foster care soon! And of course, who can forget the incredible recovery of our resident shelter mascot Crash?

These stories are only possible because of you. You give cats a second chance by sharing your time as volunteers & fosters, by adopting cats in need, and by contributing during fundraisers like Giving Tuesday.
