A note from the Springhouse Student Head of School:

Every year Springhouse sends out an annual fund letter to receive donations from people within and beyond our community. This year, we wanted to come up with new ways to ask for donations because we are reimagining what it means to be a school and a nonprofit. To do this, we turned our annual fund letter into an opportunity for students to have full creative control over this year’s letter, potentially setting a new precedent for year-end asks.

Please donate to Springhouse - not just for us, but for the learners that will come after us.                                                                                                                                   - Ben, 17

Below are personal stories from students

about why they are at Springhouse:

Evelyn, 16

"At Springhouse I have received support from my mentor and other adults. As a kid and young teen I didn't have a lot of adults and young adults to support me in my life; having someone older who will support me and can empathize with what I'm going through as a teen has been vital to me. Springhouse has also given me a strong group of friends that I can trust and rely on, friendships that I hope will carry on long past graduation day. I stay at Springhouse because there is a strong community where everyone is a valued member. "

Skyler, 15

"I never felt appreciated, loved, or valuable when I was in public school; I would get bullied for being a weirdo. When I came to Springhouse, I was invited into a community beyond myself. Through Springhouse I felt a calling to show up, not just for myself, but also for my community. The leadership and guidance that Springhouse has provided encouraged me to grow and develop in a magical way."

Tati, 16"I would not be who or where I am today without Springhouse. Here, I am not a grade or a label; I am seen and valued as the whole person that I am, with all that comes with it. And as one of the 75% of learners who are on financial aid, I would not be able to be a part of this life-changing school without financial support from our community."

- Conner, 15

"The reason I wanted to come to Springhouse was for the sense of community there. When I first came on Fridays for the Learner Discovery Program last year, I could tell there was a very close-knit community of people who really trusted each other. Because I’d never experienced that, I was drawn to it, and decided to make the switch from homeschooling to going to Springhouse."

Alonzo, 14

"I go to Springhouse because I needed something to push me out of my comfort zone and motivate me to be more responsible for myself. Being somewhere that accepts failure as a good thing and a growing experience has helped me understand how to navigate daily life better. I used to not show when I was sad or angry that much, but Springhouse has made me realize that that’s okay. The community of Springhouse is one where everyone has to do their part, and by doing that we all grow."

Lotus, 15

"Springhouse has taught me, and continues to teach me, different things every day that I will thank them for in the future. Springhouse is teaching me who I am, and how to love that person with my heart, mind, body, and soul.  My goals while I’m here are to learn how to lead with kindness and compassion, and how to find myself and grow as a person. I am here to learn how to succeed as an adult and change the world for the better. These are goals Springhouse has for their students and that is why I’m attending Springhouse Community School."
