Spark a Lifelong Connection to Nature
This Giving Tuesday, join us in creating lasting memories and sparking a love for the outdoors by sponsoring a child’s visit to Howland Hill Outdoor School in Redwood National and State Parks.
Since 1979, Howland Hill Outdoor School has been a gateway to discovery, offering hands-on, immersive experiences in the majestic redwoods. Numerous studies show the powerful benefits of outdoor education, from boosting mental and physical health to enhancing academic performance. With your support, we can continue to inspire and transform lives, one child at a time.
Here’s how you can make an impact:
- $40 sponsors a one-day, immersive experience for one student.
- $90 provides an overnight adventure for a deeper connection to nature.
- $500 funds a full day for a group of 12 students, inspiring exploration and teamwork.
- $1,000 funds a full day for a class of 25 students, fostering shared learning and discovery.
Your generosity ensures that children can experience the wonders of the redwoods, building a lifelong bond with the natural world.
About Howland Hill Outdoor School
The Howland Hill Outdoor School (HHOS) offers curriculum-based programs for children of all ages. In the spring, the school hosts overnight stays for 4th graders in its sleeping cabins. Over the past two years, HHOS has also welcomed Pre-K through 5th grade summer school students for four-week sessions. During the fall, the school runs day programs for both 6th and 2nd graders, and additional in-class programs are planned for the winter to engage even more grade levels.
In addition to scheduled programs, HHOS accommodates special requests whenever possible. For example, this year a 1st-grade teacher requested a bat-themed program and later arranged a customized spring day program at the school. HHOS also participates in community events upon request and has offered programs for children at the community center during spring break. Staff remain flexible and open to a variety of requests, provided time and resources allow.
