Kimberly Charles, affectionately known as "Kimmy” is a 42-year-old man who has faced significant challenges in his life, but his determination to overcome adversity is nothing short of inspiring. Kimmy is a devoted father of four children. In 2018 Kimmy was diagnosed with Wilson’s Disease. In 2022, his life took an unexpected turn when he learned that he had nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. This diagnosis abruptly ended his career as a truck driver, a job he had held for many years and relied upon to support his family. Doctors have now identified that Kimberly needs a liver transplant to save his life. As of August 2023, he is on the transplant list awaiting a liver. 

Kimberly’s new liver comes at a very high cost.    

The average liver transplant costs more than $800,000. With the mounting medical bills and the inability to work, Kimmy's family is facing financial hardships they never could have anticipated. He has been diligently pursuing the necessary medical treatments at Advent Health, where his journey towards recovery has begun. However, the costs of his care, including expensive medications and insurance premiums, are placing an enormous financial burden on his family.

Kimmy's determination to overcome his health challenges is unwavering. He has been in the United States for 16 years, contributing to his community and working hard to provide for his family. Despite the obstacles he faces, Kimmy is eager to return to work, be a strong dad, and ensure a brighter future for his family.

Kimmy's needs are numerous, his doctors are located 50 miles away which means that he has many transportation and lodging costs, as well as covering his insurance premiums, medication, and eventually post-transplant living expenses. With your support, we can ease the financial strain for patients like Kimmy and provide them with the hope and assistance they need to face the future with courage.

Kimberly’s story is not only about his health but also about his deep love for his family. He needs your support to get back to work and to be able to provide for his wife and four sons.
