Heart of the Work~ Aff FIVE Awardee: Emme Zanotti

Emme has long been a force for change in Michigan’s LGBTQ+ community. Over the past decade, she’s led with heart and strategy from managing campaigns and serving on nonprofit boards to facilitating support groups for young trans women and shaping statewide coalitions. Her advocacy has strengthened protections for LGBTQ+ people in both public and private spaces.

As a trans woman who often had to self-advocate, Emme has built a legacy of making space for others and ensuring our community is represented where decisions are made. Her leadership has inspired the staff at Affirmations, and we proudly recognize her as a trusted voice and visionary across Michigan.

Born in Bay City, an Alma College grad, and now rooted in Metro Detroit, Emme continues to lead with purpose and pride.
