A Chance Meeting
Quick Update:
While at the hospital last week in palliative care, we 'by chance' ran into my primary surgeon. He asked how I was, and I told him that the other doctors decided to stop treatment and sent me home with enough meds and equipment to make my remaining days comfortable.
He was not happy about that and will personally advocate for me to see if there is any treatment or surgery that will extend my life. This is good news, because we think that there are still options.
It's also an answer to prayer.
We go this week for a consult with the surgeon and a hope of 'possibilities.' We will let you all know what happens soon.
We are, of course, severely challenged financially with all of the trips to the hospital, uncovered medical expenses, transportation, and lodging for these trips.
As this Tuesday is Giving Tuesday, any donations of 100 dollars or over, or even a new recurring donation could be matched by this fundraising platform. We have received such grants in the past.
Please consider making a one-time donation or a new recurring donation today or tomorrow. We, as always, appreciate your generosity and your prayer support.
As many of you know, we've been through it this past 3+ years. Pain and discomfort, diagnosis, cancer detected, unbelievable insurance and medical bureaucracy to navigate, 4 surgeries, chemo, and last year's a 20 hour surgery which was supposed to be curative.
There have been many challenges in and around all of these to include physical, mental, spiritual, and financial. It's been a tough road.
We are thankful for all of you that have donated generously to keeping Miguel alive. We mean it. We have known more than a few here who have passed because they couldn't afford to pay for treatment etc.
Our current 'challenges,' are facing life-long chemo, gaining weight, building muscle, avoiding cachexia (wasting disease), autism induced by, or brought more to the surface by surgeries, chemo, and other treatments, and navigating life with 3-4 monthly appointments, travel, etc.
Miguel is able to keep his weight at its present level, but he fluctuates by 8-10 pounds twice a month and that's not exactly healthy. We are currently supplementing protein powder, but, it costs about a hundred and twenty bucks per container, and lasts only a month.
If you'd like to purchase 1 or 2 containers, use this platform towards that end, or contact us via Facebook messenger for other options.
Even with many donations, we are still accumulating debt. Simply put, we can use an influx of new donations. If you are able to make a recurring monthly donation, great. If you can donate one time, awesome! If you cannot donate but can share these updates, we appreciate it greatly.
In any case, this platform is trusted and secure and we've been using it for a lot of years. You can trust that your donation will get to us safely and in a timely manner.
We Love you all.
Miguel, Lauren, and Kate.
