I give because I may not be rich, but I know there is strength in numbers. My own children attend a Burkinabé school. I can testify that a modest gift can provide notebooks, a textbook, or school supplies and help a child stay engaged in a crowded classroom. All this without asking them to give up their culture or traditions. These children already carry knowledge, responsibility, and vision. I support that.
I give because:
It honors reciprocity and dignity: I give back to the communities whose wisdom has shaped how I understand identity, lineage, healing, and responsibility. Giving is one way I can respond with respect rather than simply receive.
It brings me blessings: In traditional thought, giving a gift brings blessings back to the giver.
I can relate: I have heard my own child say, “I didn't learn anything today because I didn't have a book.” For some, this obstacle can become long-term. Classes can have up to 100 children, making it easy for a child to slip between the cracks. Every contribution counts.
There is no hidden agenda: I support an approach that provides resources without asking communities to sacrifice their culture or traditions.
Thank you for supporting Kebtah's Giving Tuesday Fundraiser! On one day, Tuesday December 1, 2026, we aim to generate $65,000 in donations for our Children's Education Fund in for rural indigenous students West Africa. When you donate, your dollars will go far.
