Hi! My name is Nicolas Franco, and I’m a 10th grader at Christopher Columbus High School. If you met me, you’d probably see just another student juggling homework, friends, and SAT prep—just like everyone else. But there’s a twist to my story: I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth due to a stroke in utero.

My journey has been shaped by hard work, perseverance, and the support of my parents, teachers, and friends. Some days are challenging, but I honestly consider my journey more of a superpower than a setback.

And now, it’s my turn to give back.

For the second year in a row, I’m launching a fundraiser to support United Community Options of Miami (formerly the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Miami), a nonprofit that helps children and adults with disabilities live their best lives. They provide incredible programs that encourage independence, inclusion, and community engagement—programs that have shaped my own journey.

This year, Christopher Columbus High School will be supporting my cause. Along with its LINK Club, we will be organizing a dress-down day on March 17th to promote donations and raise awareness among students. I am grateful to have the support of my school, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to share my story with others.

You can join us in making a real impact!

Whether it’s through a small donation, spreading the word, or simply learning more about cerebral palsy, every bit of support makes a difference. Imagine a world where everyone gets the resources they need to thrive—where challenges become opportunities, just as they have for me.

So, let’s make it happen!
