Norman Has Cancer

Norman Lear was brought to Homeward Trails from one of our rural partner shelters after he rescued from a hoarding situation. Numerous dogs were forced to live in deplorable conditions, surrounded by feces. The dogs that were removed from this environment had suffered abuse, and Norman was found in a state of severe emaciation. Life should have been looking up after being rescued, right? Wrong.

Soon after arrival at Homeward Trails, we noticed a golf size lump on the back of his leg.  We were hoping for the best, but unfortunately, we received the devastating news that he has a mast cell tumor in his back left leg. Now Norman needs surgery to remove it and potentially radiation because of where it's located. We'll continue to update you on his journey and we're hoping for a positive outcome.
