Together We Dance for New Opportunities on Buyiga Island

Every child deserves the opportunity to dream.

Every woman deserves the opportunity to build an independent future.

Every community deserves hope.

On the remote island of Buyiga, in the heart of Lake Victoria, Uganda, Saint Ann Foundation has dedicated itself to making that hope a reality.

Founded by Abel Robert Ssekayombya, the Foundation has become a place where compassion is transformed into action. For many years, Abel has devoted his life to serving the people of Buyiga Island, believing that lasting change begins within the community itself.

Saint Ann Foundation works alongside children, women and families to create opportunities through education, community support, empowerment and care. Their mission is not simply to meet today's needs, but to build a future where children can grow with confidence, women can become self-reliant and families can thrive together.

What makes Saint Ann Foundation so special is not only the work they do, but the way they do it. Every child is seen. Every family is respected. Every success is celebrated together. Hope is not something they promise—it is something they build every single day.

My own connection with Saint Ann Foundation began after returning from Uganda in 2025. Although my love for Africa started more than thirty years ago during my first journey to Kenya, it was through Saint Ann Foundation that I finally found a place where I could turn that lifelong dream into meaningful action.

Through the Foundation, I became the proud sponsor of Natasha, and later Praise. They have both found a special place in my heart and remind me every day why this journey matters so much.

On 9 December 2026, I will return to Buyiga Island as a volunteer to work alongside the Saint Ann Foundation team and continue supporting the community that has welcomed me with open arms.

To support this beautiful mission, I created OEGANDANST.

OEGANDANST is a Dutch initiative that brings people together through dance, friendship and compassion. On 11 October 2026, we will organise our first charity dance event in the Netherlands to raise awareness and support for the inspiring work of Saint Ann Foundation.

Our first fundraising milestone is $8,750.

Every donation made through this campaign goes directly to Saint Ann Foundation, helping them continue their life-changing work on Buyiga Island.

This campaign is not about one person's dream.

It is about standing beside a community that is already working every single day to create a brighter future.
