Opportunities

Update posted 1 month ago

Many new mission opportunities are opening up, and we are doing our best to rise up. The Southern Inland Coastal Regions of Ecuador are hardened against the gospel because of spiritual abuse, hypocritical portrayals of faithfulness, and yes... principalities and powers working against the purposes of The Most High and us.

Despite Miguel's health issues, he continues to press forward in seizing these opportunities with much help and support from those who know him.

In 2025, the groundwork in multiple communities was done. The door of opportunity was opened in many rural villages and small towns.

NOW, it's time not only to do follow-up visits, but follow-ins. By follow-ins, we mean going beyond the mere talk into genuine fellowship. We are planning a series of follow-in visits in January and February. One thing we're providing for the men are some basic tools, machetes and the like and something special for the women too. We're exited to see what God will be doing in our midst.

You can help to both sustain and propel the mission forward by making a monthly recurring donation, or a one-time donation in any amount. This platform is trusted and safe. We've been using it for over 10 years.

With much love,

Miguel, Lauren, and Kate

For updates on Miguel's health, see THIS

It's been a challenging time with a lot of setbacks and a few solid gains. Miguel has recently been hospitalized three times, and has had 2 surgeries. One failed to relieve the problem, the other, is a temporary fix until he receives a more permanent solution. It is likely that another procedure is very close.

We have teamed up with another couple and their group of volunteers and have brought food-relief and the Good News of Messiah to hundreds in the last quarter of this year. We will have a regular schedule of initial ice-breaker encounters to identify families in physical and spiritual need, then... not follow-up, but follow-through, a second visit where we identify heightened interest, and then more visits to kick-start small fellowships, bible studies, etc.

We are also focusing on a new endeavor of reaching the men of the Southern Inland Coastal Communities and creating discipling relationships as the Spirit leads. This is important and urgent. Each outing, with food for the impoverished, travel, bibles, and other emergency needs encountered on a regular basis can cost upwards of a thousand dollars. You can sponsor one week, a half a week, or even a day's ministry via this platform safely.

Your prayers for Miguel's healing, strength, and his continued ability to 'mission'  well are greatly appreciated.

With your help, we can continue the kind of mission and relief work that is informed, long lasting, and non-toxic. We seek to create both opportunities for reciprocity, and a 'pay it forward' attitude. We do this while preserving human dignity and being a light to the nations. We believe that our multi-pronged approach to mission and poverty relief -- having done our homework in this field for over 20 years truly develops and serves those impacted by the constant pressures of injustice, oppression, and bondage.

So many have asked how they can help us serve our local community better. We are honored and encouraged by your desire to come along side us in the effort. We have been using this fundraising platform for years, and it is safe, trusted, and we are able to access your donations easily.

For certain, as we move in our current direction, we will encounter, as always, families in 'greater need' than usual. We are committed to helping those families in any way we can based on the resources available. If you'd like to make a year-end donation towards the general ministry reserve to help those families, providing food, medicines, doctor visits, and the like, please, and again, use this platform towards that end.

The work seems ever more challenging, but it is joyful. In order to extend the hope of God to all, which we believe is our calling, we depend, especially now, at the end of 2025, on new one-time and recurring monthly donations.

We are honored to serve and are grateful to all those who make this possible by your consistent financial and prayer support.

Please take a moment now to join us in prayer for:

1. For our health and safety. The last three years have seen an uptick in violence, theft, drug use, and insecurity in Ecuador. It has also been particularly challenging for us as we do our best to take proper care of ourselves, eat right, and stay active, but your prayers are surely appreciated.

2.  For the ministry work in the communities of the Southern Inland Coastal Regions of Ecuador

3. That the Word of God would prevail in our midsts.

4. For Miguel's fight against stage IV cancer, and for Lauren and Kate's epilepsy.

If you are interested in coming and working with us directly, we'd be glad to have you. Let us know.

Additionally, If you'd like us to come to you and share what we've learned from 0ver 20 years on the field about effective mission work, contact us. We'd be happy to discuss details.

Much Love,

Miguel, Lauren, and Kate
