In January 2023, I received 15 orphaned and injured juvenile howler monkeys. Some came with dog bite wounds, others with burns from electrocution injuries, and many were so little with injuries so severe that they survived only weeks, sometimes days. Almost every single one of them were found on the ground, clinging to their dead mother below a family that watched from the treetops, whom they would never see again.

Fast-forward to today, and my troop is growing bigger and stronger every day, practicing the skills needed to have the best chance at a successful re-wildling. As a conservation biologist, it has been one of my biggest privileges work with, learn from, and subsequently fall in love with the endangered Golden-Mantled Howler Monkey. This has truly become my personal passion project, and I'm so proud of how much my team and I have already been able to accomplish!

But the fight is not over, and there is so much work yet to be done. With your kind donation, I will be one step closer to having the tools necessary to aid in the conservation of a species that is not only an iconic part of our national identity but the species that has completely and utterly stolen my heart. If you give them a chance, I think they might steal yours too.
