Pregnant Moms & Newborns - We Are Their Only Hope!

We wish this was not the reality we were seeing every week in shelters across Virginia and beyond. We wish that spay/neuter access was greater and people were more caring and responsible. 

But as we work to get there, pregnant moms and those with newborn babies face sickness and starvation when abandoned. The clock ticks the minute the mom becomes pregnant and does not have access to adequate food, clean water, bedding and care. These moms give every ounce of their being to keep their babies safe. So many we save are so malnourished we cannot fathom how they, let alone their pups & kits, are still alive.

When kitten season hits each year in the spring, the mom kitties with kittens we see is overwhelming. Fighting off the elements as well as predators, these kitty families so often die or suffer horrible attacks before we can reach them. Our monthly TNR and field work is some of the most lifesaving work we do.

Our expenses for these families is tremendous. They all need vaccines and dewormings. Most need emergency medical care for illness and injury. And then if they are lucky enough to get to us in time, we have 8 long weeks of food and preventatives, vaccines and dewormings, heating and feeding. 

Please help us continue this valuable work by allowing us to say YES anytime the need comes to us so we do not have to spend time trying to raise funds that may delay care. These families deserve it.
