Sager Family Farm (SFF) encourages children to develop a love for learning and curiosity about the natural world. We use “reverse field trips” (bringing the animals into elementary school classrooms) to create equitable access to formative, hands-on experiences.
"Big Buzz About Bees" (BBAB), our flagship education program, is designed as a STEAM enrichment program and aligns with the CA Dept of Education "Desired Results for Children and Families", CA Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards and the CA Blueprint for Environmental Literacy. Above and beyond these academic standards, we incorporate social-emotional themes including self esteem, empathy, responsibility, socialization, teamwork, motivation, leadership, and overcoming fear.
We have received less financial support for schools in the San Diego Promise Zone than in previous years. As of right now, this means 70 classrooms in the San Diego Promise Zone will no longer receive Big Buzz About Bees program free of charge. Over 90% of students from these schools come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.
We need your support in order to maintain our established San Diego Promise Zone programs!
Your Support Matters!
- $25-$50 - Brings the bees to the classroom. Our educators regularly drive 60 miles each day to bring our bees to school across 7 counties in CA.
- $150 - Covers the average cost of a lesson with 1 classroom
- $600 - Covers the cost of visiting 4 classrooms at one school. This means the entire grade level receives a lesson.
