St James Infirmary is a peer-based sex worker organization that provides direct services and political advocacy to end the stigma and criminalization of our community. We support and prioritize the most marginalized people of the San Francisco Bay Area. Our services focus on current and former sex workers, people who use drugs, people of color, and Transgender people.
Our services are all free and include:
Clinical Services
Transgender Healthcare
Mental Health Services
HIV/HepC/STI Testing, Treatment, Counseling and Linkage to Care
Harm Reduction Supplies and Support
Community Health Navigators training
Outreach (includes our late-night mobile van)
Holistic Services and Groups (includes the popular Mujeres Latinas En Accion group)
Housing for Transgender and Gender-Non Conforming people
Policy and Advocacy for sex workers, drug users and LGBTQIA causes
This Giving Tuesday, please support our efforts to provide excellent and high quality harm reduction services. Funds raised will help us pay for supplies like clothing, food, condoms & lube, hygiene supplies and more to be distributed to all of our program participants.
“I struggled as a young sex worker and felt the love and support of my community when I walked in the door of St James Infirmary. The staff at St James helped me by giving an alternative to abstinence-only attitudes around drug use and sex work. I was also able to access resources like free healthcare, food and clothing.” -Anita “Durt” O’Shea, Operations Director, St James Infirmary
The staff and volunteers of SJI have been working tirelessly to champion our community and this year we lost our most storied champion, and founder, Margo St. James. The recent memorial for her has sparked an intergenerational push to further the movement to decriminalize sex work and to offer dignity and well-being to all sex workers. St. James Infirmary’s staff and volunteers hope to see this change in our lifetime and we will continue to provide excellent, free, peer-based harm reduction services to our community for as long as it takes.
Thank you to all our participants, staff, volunteers, funders, and supporters!
