Maple Has Never Known What It’s Like to Feel Safe

Sweet 2 year old Maple was seized for neglect from a property that was, for all intents and purposes, a dump. There was no food waiting for her. No clean water. Maple and another dog survived by picking through piles of garbage, literally choosing which trash they would eat for dinner. And then, amid everything she had already endured, shelter staff discovered that Maple was pregnant. She was eventually signed over to the shelter, and now this young mother is waiting there with babies growing inside her, having no idea what comes next. Maple should not have to give birth in a shelter after surviving a life like this. Homeward Trails wants to bring her to a wonderful maternity foster where, perhaps for the first time in her life, she will have a soft place to sleep, a full bowl, clean water, gentle hands, and a safe home in which to bring her puppies into the world. But taking on a pregnant mama and her coming litter is an enormous financial commitment, and we need donations and sponsors to be able to say yes to Maple. Please help us get her out. She has spent long enough surviving on what the world threw away. Her babies deserve to enter this world knowing something different.
