Nicolas should be spending his days running through the grass and wagging his tail at everyone he meets. Instead, this sweet 1 year old Beagle is lying on the concrete floor of an overcrowded rural Virginia shelter. To make matters worse, poor Nicolas has a painful broken toe and is waiting for someone to notice him. Every step hurts, yet he still greets people with hopeful eyes, as if he believes the next person through the door might finally be there for him. But in a shelter with too many dogs and too little space, hope can disappear far too quickly. Without Homeward Trails stepping in, Nicolas could lose his life simply because there isn’t enough room.
