Viola E. Davis dropped out of school to support her family. Many years later, after she moved to San Bernardino and raised a family of her own, she returned to school to complete her education, eventually earning her high school diploma and then her associate's degree and serving as an example for her children and grandchildren.
This scholarship recognizes her courage and achievements and the courage of any adult who takes the difficult step of returning to school to earn their diploma and then continuing their education beyond that.
