Mouse's Story
Mouse was found near the Boise Airport, barely alive. Her tiny body weighed just 178 grams—less than half of what a kitten her age should weigh. She was severely dehydrated, emaciated, and covered in fleas. In addition, she was battling an upper respiratory infection. Without immediate help, she wouldn’t have survived.
A good Samaritan rushed her to Simply Cats, and our medical team immediately went to work. Mouse received fluids to rehydrate her tiny body and glucose to stabilize her dangerously low blood sugar. She was gently bathed to remove the fleas and placed in an incubator to bring her body temperature into normal range.
When offered gruel, Mouse tried to eat on her own but didn’t have the strength. By syringe feeding her around the clock, Mouse was able to receive the nutrition she desperately needed.
The first days were critical. Mouse battled chronic diarrhea, infection, and struggled to gain weight despite eating well. Once Mouse was stable, she was able to transition to a foster home well equipped to take care of her special needs. Mouse remains in foster care and we are thrilled to report that she is gaining weight thanks to a special diet designed by our medical team. Mouse's future certainly is much brighter as each day she makes small but significant gains. Her typical day involves snuggling with her foster family as well as making sure her every wish is granted. We couldn't ask for a better life for her!
Mouse’s story could have ended on the side of the road. Instead, she has a chance because someone cared enough to step in—and because supporters like you make lifesaving care possible.
Your support makes a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable cats and kittens. Please, give today to ensure that kittens like Mouse get the second chances they deserve.
Above is little Ray, who was found alone and suffering from severe eye infections. Sadly, most kittens like Ray, born on the streets, don't survive more than a few months without human intervention.
From the moment they're born, orphaned kittens face overwhelming odds. Many disappear or lose their lives to illness, predators, traffic, cruelty, or the countless dangers of the outside world. The harsh reality is that without human intervention, most of these fragile kittens don't stand a chance. Simply Cats provides lifesaving care to homeless cats and kittens, but that is only possible with your support.
This #GivingTuesday, your donation can save lives. By giving today, you'll support lifesaving care for vulnerable cats and kittens like Ray. Together, we can reach our $45,000 goal and make a meaningful impact. Let's offer hope to those who need it most.
