Giving Tuesday

Thank you so much for considering a donation to the Windsor Public Library on Giving Tuesday! As 2021 comes to an end, we reflect on this year and the silver linings it has brought us.

While COVID-19 persists in Vermont, the Windsor Library has been able to return to providing most regular services to our community while also doing our best to keep everyone safe.

We are back to our pre-pandemic hours of operation and patrons are returning! However, we continue to offer curbside services for those who prefer this, we are doing most of our programming outside for safety, and we continue to mandate masks inside the building.

Programming this year has been creative and primarily located in our backyard, on Zoom, or exploring Windsor's forests and open spaces. We were so lucky to have local naturalists leading walks in Paradise Park and the Windsor fairgrounds this year. Our storytelling, poetry and music open mic was able to happen in the library backyard monthly throughout the summer and early fall and included talented musicians, poets and even a young storyteller. The early October backyard harvest potluck included a savory and delicious wealth of dishes prepared from the garden. A program on animal tracks got young participants thinking of local wildlife and how best to identify evidence of the different creatures living in our region. And our climate change and racial justice book discussion groups got participants thinking about critical issues of concern to our community and our world.

We continue to make progress in our goal of becoming so much more accessible to our community. We have raised over $73,000 towards installing a lift (very similar to an elevator) and renovating our stairs and bathroom so library visitors can more easily access our children's room, bathroom, meeting room and historical records room.

As we consider our blessings as 2021 ends, our wonderful community remains at the forefront. We wish you the best during this holiday season and hope to see you soon at the library! Thank you again for your support.
