Jean’s Story

Jean was born on 10 August 2025, 5 days after her mumma’s birthday. Jean was born with HDFN and after receiving a double exchange transfusion shortly after birth she developed Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. At only 5 days old and on 15 August 2025, Jean died in her mother’s arms.

If Jean had access to specialist HDFN care and if she had received a life saving blood transfusion in utero, she would be alive today celebrating her 1st birthday with her birthday buddy - her mum.

To honour Jean’s life we are hosting a blood drive through Lifeblood Australia to raise vital blood products to help treat babies with HDFN. We are hoping to save 200 lives.

We are also honoured to support The Allo Hope Foundation (AHF), which has played a crucial role in our journey.

Awareness and access to care could have saved Jean’s life and we hope Jean’s legacy means other babies get to go home to their families. Thank you for helping us honour Jean and for protecting more families from these devastating losses. Your generosity brings education, treatment, and hope to those who need it most.

Who is Allo Hope?

Turning Fear into Hope for Moms & Babies Around the World

Every year, mothers and babies around the world face a rare, life threatening condition called HDFN; when a mother’s blood creates antibodies that attack her baby’s red blood cells. With the right care, babies survive HDFN and thrive. Without it, the outcomes can be devastating.

That’s where the Allo Hope Foundation (AHF) comes in. AHF provides education, specialist referrals, global access initiatives, and research so that mothers and babies receive the lifesaving care and support they need during their HDFN diagnosis.

Your donation today helps:

  • Put a support booklet in the hands of a newly diagnosed mother so she can advocate for her baby

  • Fund a blood-type test or Rh immunoglobulin dose for a mother in a low resource country.

  • Connect a family with a maternal–fetal specialist experienced in HDFN.

  • Advance research and education to prevent stillbirths and infant deaths caused by alloimmunization and HDFN.
