At Wood Middle School, our identity as a STEAM school means we are deeply committed to helping students make meaningful connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them. Field trips are an essential part of that mission. When students experience art, history, and culture firsthand, their learning becomes more personal, more memorable, and more powerful.
This spring, our 7th grade students have the opportunity to visit the de Young Museum in San Francisco—a world‑class institution that houses American art from the 17th century to today, global textile arts, African and Oceanic art, art of the Americas, and contemporary works from around the world. While there is no fee for students to enter the museum, we are raising funds for buses needed to transport all 245 students to Golden Gate Park. The estimated cost per student is $28.
The museum’s mission is to connect visitors with art in ways that spark curiosity, deepen understanding of the past, and inspire creativity for the future. This aligns directly with what our 7th graders are studying in world history and supports their growth as critical thinkers and creative problem‑solvers.
Your contribution will help ensure every student can participate in this enriching experience. With your support, our students will not just learn about history and culture—they will step into it.
