When Lev called BTAA’s Helpline, he was scared—not for himself, but for his dogs.

A former police officer and retired National Guardsman, Lev recently suffered a devastating fall that left him with a broken hip and in need of intensive medical care and rehabilitation. In a single moment, everything changed. Suddenly, he could no longer care for the four dogs he lovingly calls family: Willow, a 12-week-old puppy; Luna, age 6; Christy, age 10; and Sampson, age 5.

While Lev focused on beginning his recovery, family members stepped in to help care for his dogs. But as the length and difficulty ohis rehabilitation became clear, Lev faced the heartbreaking reality that he might have to permanently rehome his beloved companions.

That’s when BTAA’s Temporary Loving Care program stepped in.

Today, Lev’s dogs are safe at BTAA—together, cared for, and loved. They are receiving everything they need while Lev heals: daily care, boarding, vaccinations, and even a spay surgery for little Willow.
