Left Behind in the Woods

Smeagle’s story is almost too heartbreaking to imagine. This tiny 2 year old Miniature Pinscher was found dumped in the woods of rural West Virginia with a few other dogs, left behind as his owner drove away and abandoned him like he didn’t matter. Scared, confused, and utterly alone, Smeagle had no choice but to wait for someone to notice him. Now he sits in a crowded rural shelter, where the days are long, loud, and lonely, and no one has come forward to give him the love and safety he deserves. Shelter life is no place for a little dog who just wants to curl up in a warm bed and feel safe again. Homeward Trails longs to bring Smeagle to the DC area and give him a second chance at life, but we can’t do it without sponsors to help cover the cost of transportation and veterinary care. Please, help us rescue Smeagle before the shelter becomes his final stop.
