Why We’re Raising Funds for ABLED’s Job Training Program
As ABLED staff and board members, we are united around a shared belief: every adult with an intellectual or developmental disability deserves the opportunity to work, contribute, and be valued in their community. Our job training program exists to make that belief a reality.
Each day, our clients engage in hands-on work rotations that build real employable skills — from food service and custodial work, to clerical tasks, customer service, digital media, gardening, and more. At the same time, we teach the essential soft skills that determine long-term success on the job: communication, teamwork, problem-solving, professionalism, and emotional regulation.
This is not a “day program.”
This is career preparation.
This is future-building.
Why Funding Matters Now
Demand for our program is growing — quickly. We are seeing more referrals, more families reaching out, and more adults who want to work, but need structured, compassionate, individualized support to get there.
To continue meeting this need — and to expand our capacity — we are raising funds to support:
Job Coach staffing and training
Paid internship positions that lead to competitive employment
Transportation access so clients can work in the community
Worksite materials, tools, and supplies
Development of new employer partnerships
Client supports that promote independence and self-advocacy
These funds directly remove barriers that too often prevent adults with disabilities from accessing the workforce — and instead, open the door to dignity, confidence, and economic self-sufficiency.
The Impact
Your support helps individuals:
Gain real job experience
Earn their own paychecks
Build independence and daily living skills
Form meaningful relationships
Contribute to their community
See themselves as capable, valued, and powerful
We are not just raising money. We are raising expectations.
We are building a future where inclusive employment is the norm — not the exception.
Thank you for your continued leadership, commitment, and belief in the unlimited potential of the people we serve.
We’re in this, together.
