For 13 years, Baltimore Gift Economy has supported food-insecure families and communities around Baltimore City. Over that time, we have partnered with grocery stores and restaurants to rescue food and provide as much as we can through food share tables and a pandemic-era delivery service. Now, in order to avoid food waste and better serve our community, we are adjusting our approach to include full meal kits complete with recipes.
One of the greatest compliments our program ever received was from a community member who told us that the food she had received allowed her to "be the mom she wanted to be." With this shift in strategy, we recognize that time is a rare gift and hope to give some of it back to our community so that they might be able to relax and spend time with their loved ones.
This holiday season comes in times of uncertainty for many, we are seeking donations to provide as many meal kits as possible to food insecure people in and around Baltimore City. Thank you for your time and happy holidays!
