Education for a Healthy Planet

The Hitchcock Center is a nonprofit environmental learning center dedicated to connecting people of all ages and abilities with our natural world.

Founded in 1962, our mission is to educate and to inspire action for a healthy planet.

We serve over 13,000 people each year, from early childhood programming like our Nature Discovery Preschool, to programs for children and youth such as Homeschool, After School and Nature Summer Camp, to adult community programs on Natural History, Sustainability, and Environmental Justice.  We work with an average of 5,700 students in 48 K-12 schools, and provide annual professional development opportunities for over 600 educators and sustainability professionals.

WE'RE NOW THE 23RD LIVING BUILDING IN THE WORLD

Our new net-zero energy, water, and waste environmental learning center leads by example to demonstrate the power and possibility of building in harmony with the natural world.
