Since 2006, The Woodson African American Museum of Florida has served as the premier destination in St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area for preserving, interpreting, and educating the public about African American art, history, and culture. As the museum strives to become Florida's first purpose-built African American museum, we remain steadfast in our mission to honor and elevate the extraordinary contributions of Black Americans, which have been pivotal in shaping this nation’s greatness.

From groundbreaking exhibitions to thought-provoking conversations with acclaimed authors and the celebration of jazz, soul, and blues, The Woodson boldly highlights some of the richest and most compelling stories ever told. We envision an edifice that reflects the excellence and resilience of our nation's most underrepresented history.

Join us as we continue to work toward celebrating the success, struggles, and triumphs of African Americans for generations to come.
