Keep the Legacy Alive this #GivingTuesday!

Nearly twenty years ago, The Woodson African American Museum of Florida opened its doors in the heart of St. Petersburg, transforming the former Jordan Park Community Center into a powerful sanctuary of history, art, resilience, and pride.

What started off as just a space has grown into a movement; it has become a beacon of hope where advocacy and community meet.

Where youth find mentors.

Where families find resources.

Where artists find opportunity.

Where voices long unheard find strength.

This GivingTuesday, we ask you to stand with us. Your support sustains the exhibitions, programs, and community-centered work that ensures our legacy not only lives but thrives. Even when challenges arise, like the defacing of our beloved Black History Matters mural, we remain unshaken and unwavering in our mission. With your generosity, The Woodson will continue to be a place where culture flourishes, belonging is felt, and generations can move forward with pride and possibility.

BLACK HISTORY MATTERS AND IT’S HERE TO STAY!

This Giving Tuesday, we reaffirm what we know to be true: Black History Matters, and it’s here to stay.

Despite the recent desecration of The Woodson African American Museum of Florida’s beloved Black History Matters street mural and welcoming mat—removed by order of the State of Florida, The Woodson stands undeterred. Our commitment to preserving and presenting African American history remains stronger than ever.

In an inspiring display of solidarity, hundreds gathered in the street, forming a living mural—a powerful human symbol of unity, resilience, and resolve. Together, we declared that while paint may fade, our history, our stories, and our legacy cannot and will not be erased.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to stand with The Woodson. Your support helps ensure that Black History is not just remembered, but celebrated, taught, and immortalized for generations to come.
