More members are coming, which is great, but we need more bathrooms, esp. during parties and events.

We currently have 45 members and 33 staff at our social and recreation program for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, and they share a couple of buildings.

As more members join SCTP to enjoy life, learning skills to build friendships and exercise their muscles and minds, we need space for the new party dance moves created after too many cups of coffee.

The bathroom situation gets especially tight when we have their big birthday celebrations and other events that bring in their families and friends.

Two birthday parties on the same day.

Example of one of SCTP's accessible bathrooms. The panoramic shot makes it look a little bigger than it is, but it fits a member, their direct care worker, and a wheelchair.

How can we explain some situations?  Pretend you're going into an awkward social situation when you're supposed to talk, but it's hard and you can't escape without a buddy to get you out. You have to do the deed, but you need prompting, some advice, reminders, and some physical aid to get through. It can take time to navigate and make sure everyone feels good afterwards.

Your help will bring extra time and peace to everyone's day.

SCTP's project manager has designed two bathrooms that will expand out onto a patio near the back driveway of the main building. The new location is perfect since it's closer to the secondary building and to the outdoors for any calls of nature during outdoor activities. They will be crucial during transitions throughout the day to and from vehicles for their community outings to the park, the movies, and for their favorite coffee places.

From across the driveway, you can see the full porch. Behind the camera is the basketball court and secondary building with two rooms, a bathroom, and a gym.
