Fawohodie Membership Club

Fawohodie Membership Club is a Creative Placemaking project that uses Cultural Organizing to introduce Political Education and Liberatory Praxis models to our communities. The artists, healers, and organizers in our membership lead a number of arts and cultural organizing projects including Replenish: Black Joy Healing Spaces, Cultural Organizing x Solidarity Economy workshops, Culltivate PV Community Group, Claudia Jones International Time Bank and more.

Mission:  Fawohodie Membership Club (FMC) exists to incubate and base build via tangible Solidarity Economy projects such as microlending circles (a.k.a. sou-sous), tenant rights organizations, community land trusts, neighborhood time banks, childcare collectives, community gardens, worker cooperatives, and so much more.  We support the development and organizing of localized community-based solutions to keep it sustainable and accountable to liberatory values. These projects provide liberatory alternatives to existing oppressive systems so our communities can make a Just Transition into a sustainable future.  Womxnist Liberation Cooperative provides the legal infrastructure to legitimize and buffer the work happening in FMC.

Vision:   Ultimately, FMC aims to be an Afrofuturist re-imagining of labor and community built upon Black Liberation, Womanist Praxis, Black Feminist Theory, and Solidarity Economy Principles. We aspire to build the perfect workplace for Black women and femmes using qualitative research, first-hand experiences, and extensive network tapping to pull in both liberatory practices and healthy models of political engagement.
