Turning Fear into Hope for Moms & Babies Around the World

Every year, mothers and babies around the world face a rare but serious condition called HDFN; when a mother’s blood creates antibodies that attack her baby’s red blood cells. With the right care, babies can survive.

That’s where the Allo Hope Foundation (AHF) comes in. They provide education, specialist referrals, global access initiatives, and research so that no mother or baby has to face HDFN without support.

This Giving Tuesday and during the Holiday season, we are raising money for AHF to honor Josie's battle with HDFN and to help protect other babies from preventable loss. Please join me in sharing hope with those who need it most by contributing to Josie's Stocking Fundraiser.

Your gift today means:

  • A support booklet in the hands of a pregnant woman so she can advocate for her baby.

  • Funding a blood-type test or Rh immunoglobulin dose in a low-resource country.

  • Connecting a family with a maternal–fetal specialist who understands HDFN.

  • Advancing research to prevent stillbirths and infant deaths caused by alloimmunization.

Our Story

On June 27, 2023, Josie Anne was stillborn when her HDFN diagnosis was missed, and she did not receive the life-saving blood transfusion she needed to survive. After Josie died, we found The Allo Hope Foundation. AHF connected us with an expert care team and gave us all the information we needed to have a healthy baby. Although Josie's little brother, Noah, had a more severe disease than Josie, he is now cured and thriving because he received the right care at the right time. Noah's pregnancy required 8 surgeries (4 Intrauterine Blood Transfusions), 20 rounds of IVIG, 6 rounds of Plasmapheresis, and many months in and out of the hospital. After 2 weeks of intensive phototherapy and IVIG in the NICU, we finally got to bring Noah home. Noah received 3 top-up blood transfusions before being officially discharged from hematology at 7 months old. We would not have known how to advocate for Noah's care, nor who the expert surgeons were, without AHF. By donating to our fundraiser, you will help other families have access to this life-saving information and prevent more losses like Josie's. You will also join what has become our favorite and most sacred Christmas tradition of seeing Josie's stocking full of cards on Christmas morning.

Thank you for your generosity and also for taking the time to support us by learning about HDFN. We hope you have a beautiful holiday season.
