Help Southeast San Diego Students Start Strong This School Year

Right now, young students in our community are at risk of falling behind—and we need your help to keep critical literacy programs running.

DEEP’s proven programs support PreK–3rd grade students at Chollas Mead, Encanto, Johnson, and Webster Elementary with the books, tools, and joyful learning experiences they need to become confident readers.

In our neighborhoods, only 32% of third graders read at grade level—but we’re changing that through early literacy programs that work. From school readiness and teacher training to family engagement and afterschool tutoring, DEEP builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

But this year, we face an urgent gap.

We’re on track for funding next year—but without immediate support, we may have to pause our most effective programs this fall.

We urgently need:

• $40,000 by August 1 to keep our Soaring Readers afterschool tutoring alive
• $40,000 more to continue Super Tuesdays/Thursdays, our enrichment sessions that bring reading to life
