‘Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) are effective in preventing impulsive behavior and managing periods of dysregulation. Research shows that mindfulness enhances cognitive and emotional awareness, reduces emotional distractions, and promotes intentional regulation of behavior, attention, and emotion. Additionally, mindful practices can interrupt negative thought patterns, increase tolerance for difficult emotions, and foster self-compassion and empathy. Overall, studies suggest that practicing mindfulness can significantly support self-regulation.’
Singing bowls are ancient tools utilized in The Being Project's classes and trainings to assist with focus, regulate emotions, and practice being in the present moment.
Teachers will ask participants to sit cross legged and close their eyes. The singing bowl will be played and students raise their hand when they hear the sound begin. When the sound fades for them, they quietly put their hand down and take a deep breath.
This activity is a crowd favorite and is completed in each class to signal the start and end of our lessons. Through regular practice, this helps students eliminate distrations and irritations they may encounter throughout their days.
This fundraiser will help us provide 60 singing bowls to classrooms, educators, and schools-expanding our mindfulness accessibility through the city of Cincinnati. By regularly practicing mindfulness, we experience many beneficial side effects; such as regulated emotional reactions and more awareness, soothing mental health struggles and illnesses, and reduced violence.
With your support we can help expand our reach to more children and adults in our communities experience and practice these strategies on a regular basis, so they too, can experience the benefits!
