About ABLED

At ABLED, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities train for real jobs, build independence, and take their place in the community. Our Job Training program offers hands-on, rotating work assignments, real workplace mentors, and individualized coaching, so each participant builds skills, confidence, and a career path that fits who they are. No two days look the same, and that's by design.

GivingTuesday + ABLED

On GivingTuesday, generosity happens all over the world at once. We're inviting our whole ABLED community (families, donors, employer partners, volunteers, and alumni) to give together and show what's possible when a community invests in its people.

What's new at ABLED this year

• Paid internships: Participants are earning paychecks in community workplaces like Goodwill, Miller's ACE Hardware, and Sutter Health Park, and some have advanced into paid Instructional Aide roles at ABLED.

• Culinary program: Launched this fall, participants are building kitchen skills for food service jobs and for everyday independence.

• Supported employment: ABLED is now approved to provide individualized supported employment, with job coaching as participants step into community jobs.

• Apparel printing: Our direct-to-film printer lets participants practice design, customer service, quality checks, and bookkeeping, with an eye toward small businesses of their own.

• A bigger home: In early 2027, we're moving to McClellan Park, which gives us room to welcome more participants.
